Wearable Ice Packs- A Gentler Way To Cool Your Throbbing Migraine

October 4, 2017 By Sanjay Sharma Leave a Comment

Migraineurs are always on a lookout for a easier way to cool down their throbbing pain from a migraine attack.

There are so many ways to “cool down your head”, and each of these have its own pros and cons. Of course you can use old ice packs-some of them work better than others. But it’s not possible to control the temperature, and it’s also very difficult to keep them in place.

Now you have an option of “wearable ice pack”. The best thing about them is that they are adjustable and will also stay in place.

Also, there are some professional grade cooling mechanisms, such as ThermaZone Continuous Thermal Therapy Device that gives you constant cooling. A great option but a professional device that is available at a professional price.

But if you’re interested in an inexpsnvie solution, much gentler than a ice packi, it’s also wearable, simple “cooling pads” that are gettign so many rave reviews (at least, some of the brands).

These cooling pads have gel filled in them, and you can easily press them on your forehead or on your neck or the back (they have a gentle adhesive on one side), and in most cases they are effective for hours.

One of the best and highest rated cooling pad is BeKoool. It has go good reviews on Amazon.

If your pain is minor, or if you want to stay elevated and want to move around freely, or if you get restless and roll around a lot when in pain, these pads can be amazing because they also stay in place wonderfully! I’ve used them and have gone to sleep wearing them. That’s a blessing as I had an impossible time trying to sleep when my head hurts and these pads help so much.

This is definitely not a miracle cure-they won’t stop your headaches or migraines. However, if you use one while waiting for your migraine medication to kick in, it makes the wait FAR more bearable. So go ahead and stock them before your next attack.

The best thing about these pads is they have no scent. One (MQ brand) has scent so you should avoid that one.

Some people find the adhesive irritating. So it’s best to buy just one box and try before stocking supplies for migraine days.

WellPatch Migraine & Headache Cooling Patch (it can cool for up to 12 hours) and Coraliste Cooling Headahce Pads are also good, but they’re not as effective as these two.

By the way, BeKool manufacturer specializes in making these types of medical pads. They also offer pads for soothing fever in kids.

So these are definitely a drug-free way to soothe your migraine symptoms. It can also be a good surprise gift for a friend who gets frequent headaches.

About Author

I'm a married man in my 40's and live in India with my wife and a cute little daughter Gauranshi. I've been experiencing ocular migraine attacks since 2003. Initially, I tried western medicine with no positive results. My migraine worsened with time and it was then that I decided to give Ayurvedic herbs a try in 2009.

The experience was pleasant. I won't say my migraine attacks have stopped, but there is definitely a 96-98- percent improvement. Earlier I had an attack every 4-6 days, but now that's a thing of past, I rarely get attacks anymore. Whenever I experience migraine attack it is usually very light and I'm back to work within 10-15 minutes. I feel absolutely no pain during or after the episode.

I understand the perils of life with migraine and have vowed to spend rest of my life mitigating the sufferings of all those who experience migraine attacks from around the world.
